Since 2022, forumZFD – Kosovo Program as part of the Landscapes of Repair project have started to research the social, political, cultural, and historical significance of (non-)musical, acoustic and sonic spheres of memorialization practices in Kosovo. These explorations have contributed to an applied research project on the complex relation between acoustic artifacts and (post)traumatic landscapes in the aftermath of war and gross human rights violations.
forumZFD Kosovo seeks through this project to acknowledge that sound can play a powerful role in shaping public perceptions and memories of various historical periods. Sounds of places where violence occurred, memorials, public spaces, and realms of protests, can serve as evidence and can help to shape public memory and create a sense of shared history and collective responsibility.
